Later, informed sources cited by Iranian outlets said the systems were activated after drones were observed flying above Qeshm Island.
According to reports, the political deputy governor of Hormozgan Province stated that the operation targeted what he described as “American-Israeli hostile drones.”
The official also said that noises heard earlier across the island were linked to the activation of air defense systems and their engagement with the drones.
He added that Iranian armed forces remain on full alert and stressed that “the situation is fully under control,” while describing conditions on Qeshm Island as stable, according to reports.
Regional tensions have continued to intensify since the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran in February. Tehran later responded with attacks targeting Israel and US-allied Gulf states, alongside the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
