Carlson says EU leaders are being ‘stupid’, ‘reckless’ by backing Kiev

(MENAFN) American commentator Tucker Carlson has sharply criticized European leaders for backing Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, claiming their actions are not only futile but also self-destructive. In an interview with a US-based Russian-language outlet, Carlson dismissed the notion that Kyiv could defeat Moscow militarily.

“They cannot win this war. All it’s doing is destroying Europe. It has already destroyed Ukraine,” Carlson said. He described Russia as “an industrial power, a resource power, a close military ally of China at this point,” adding, “All they can do is destroy themselves and destroy the world with a nuclear exchange. This is deranged.”

Carlson linked Europe’s current economic struggles to decades of secular liberal policies, asserting that the same elites who provoked tensions with Moscow had undermined the continent’s cultural foundations. “Europe is falling apart because the same people and the same ideas that got us into this war have dominated for 80 years,” he claimed.

He also highlighted Ukraine’s demographic challenges and the government’s plan to import foreign workers to address labor shortages, warning that such policies could erase the country’s identity. “There will be no Ukraine,” Carlson said, asserting that this outcome was intentional in his view.

European nations supporting Kyiv have committed billions of euros in military aid and pledged continued funding for the Ukrainian government. At the same time, attempts to reduce reliance on Russian energy have caused energy prices to spike across the EU. Germany, the bloc’s largest economy, is experiencing a pronounced downturn, with economic experts describing its current trajectory as “dramatic.”
